Toronto, ON – The Toronto Blue Jays officially placed veteran right-hander Max Scherzer on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, due to back spasms. The move is retroactive to June 14.
This marks the second time this season the 41-year-old Scherzer has landed on the injured list, further complicating what has been a challenging campaign for the future Hall of Famer. Scherzer has struggled considerably through his outings this year, posting an elevated 10.23 ERA across 22 innings pitched.
In a corresponding roster move, the Blue Jays recalled right-handed pitcher Chad Dallas from Triple-A Buffalo. The absence of Scherzer, particularly given his performance woes and now recurring injury issues, presents another hurdle for the Blue Jays as they navigate the remainder of their season.
