Serena Williams' highly anticipated return to professional tennis at the Queen's Club was unfortunately cut short following an injury to her doubles partner, 19-year-old Canadian Victoria Mboko.
The duo had successfully won their opening match at the prestigious grass-court tournament, marking Williams' much-watched comeback. However, Mboko's medical evaluation revealed a significant setback.
Mboko sustained a medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury to her left knee. This unfortunate development not only forces the promising young Canadian talent to withdraw from the Queen's Club doubles tournament, but also sidelines her for the entire remainder of the grass-court season, including the iconic Wimbledon championships.
Consequently, the injury to Mboko directly led to the pair's withdrawal from the Queen's Club event, bringing an abrupt end to Williams' return to competitive play after their initial victory.
